Kareem is a board-certified criminal trial lawyer who concentrates his legal practice to the areas of criminal defense and personal injury. Lawyers who achieve board certification are subject to a rigorous examination and must further undergo an extensive peer review process. This process involves a thorough assessment and verification of the lawyer’s competence and professionalism by other lawyers and judges.
As a personal injury lawyer, Kareem has successfully litigated disputes involving automobile accidents and premises liability claims in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Florida, and Georgia. Because of his humble upbringing, Kareem connects with his clients on a personal level and treats his clients with the respect they deserve. His ability to resolve disputes in a pragmatic, cost-effective, and honest manner has often resulted in very favorable settlements with various insurance companies and their lawyers. Kareem also has extensive experience representing clients who are charged with criminal offenses.
History
Prior to entering private practice, Kareem represented indigent clients as a court-appointed criminal defense lawyer. To date, Kareem has tried well over 25 trials to verdict as lead counsel and has successfully represented clients who are charged with crimes involving drug possession, DUI, juvenile delinquency, financial and property crimes, and homicide. Because of his dedication and zealous advocacy, Kareem has secured outright dismissals and/or acquittals for crimes including malice murder (first-degree murder), felony murder, armed robbery, sexual battery, wire fraud, and burglary just to name a few.
Kareem is originally from St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and as a result, has a deep understanding and commitment to Virgin Islands culture and traditions. He currently serves on the Virgin Islands Bar Association’s Judiciary Committee and was appointed by The Florida Bar President to serve on both the Criminal Trial Law Board Certification and Criminal Procedure Rules Committees. Kareem is licensed to and actively practices law in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Florida, and Georgia.
